Teach The Way They Were Designed To Learn (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798187947249)

Human beings were designed to WANT to learn. So what happened and how do we get that WANT back?

They say you learn more on the job than at school. For most teachers, nobody ever tested that theory before handing them a classroom. Most teachers were trained to deliver content. Very few were trained to build the conditions in which genuine learning actually happens. A teacher who sees themselves only as a content deliverer makes different decisions than a teacher who understands themselves as a community builder, one who knows that what they model, what they value, and how they treat the people in their room is shaping the next generation's understanding of what leadership, community, and human decency look like in practice.

I spent over a decade working alongside investors, entrepreneurs, and marketing directors, some of today's most effective leaders, before becoming a high school teacher. What I discovered is that the most important teaching skills are never taught in teacher preparation programs. How to pitch an idea like an entrepreneur. How to transmit a vision like a creative director. How to build a culture like a general manager. This is my story. My learning journey through one of the toughest and most rewarding jobs on earth. A teacher.

Built around three forces; Leadership, Motivation, and Culture and grounded in the real story of a teacher who failed, rebuilt from scratch, and created a classroom he still misses, Includes five practical tools. One honest story. A framework built not from research papers but from life.

For the teacher who thinks they have failed.
For the teacher who feels more like a babysitter.
For the teacher who believes one room, one lesson, one student at a time, can change everything.

Inside you will find:

• The Pitch - how to sell your unit to an uninterested audience.
• The Brief - how to transmit a vision instead of distributing a rubric.
• The 3 Knows - 3 things students must know before starting any project.
• The 3 Rules - 3 rules to help you do and say less so they can so and say more.
• The Center - what learning actually feels like and why you were designed for it.
