Temporal Accidents, an Astrid and Pax Temporal Misadventure: Book 1, the Elephant Enigma (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798257967771)

Piloting jumpships through Earth's time streams was much more difficult than they thought it would be. It required the ability to be present without being there, Observing without interfering. documenting without disrupting. The distinctions were considerably harder than they sounded. Nobody mentioned that Observation changes History. Nobody mentioned the elephants.

As a compulsive rule follower, Intern Captain Astrid Seren expected every mission to go perfectly. Her Second-in-Command, Pax Lonnec, had a different agenda.

The mission was simple. One magnetohydroelectric jumpship - no moving parts, running clean on Lorentz energy - one timestream, 326 BCE, Alexander crossing the Hyphasis River to become Alexander the Great.

Then one of the elephants made eye contact.

And remembered.

Instead of a linear line moving through History, Time is closer to a conversation - and something on the other end has been watching for a very long time.

Does the elephant remember because you were there - or were you there because the elephant remembered?

Do you need a DeLorean for time travel, or will a Lorentz drive with working containment do?

If you are observed across three millennia, are you the Observer or the Observed?

Can you be formally reprimanded for an enigma?
