Tentamen Anti-Straussianum. the Antiquity of the Gospels Asserted On Philological Grounds, in Refutation of the Mythic Scheme of D.F. Strauss (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781141251292)

Tentamen Anti-Straussianum is Orlando Thomas Dobbin's detailed response to David Friedrich Strauss's controversial work challenging the historical authenticity of the Gospels. Published in 1845, this book presents a philological defense of the Gospels' antiquity and reliability, directly refuting Strauss's mythic interpretation. Dobbin meticulously examines the language and context of the Gospels, offering a counter-argument to the idea that they were merely products of myth and legend.

Dobbin's work provides valuable insights into the 19th-century debates surrounding biblical criticism and the historical Jesus. It showcases a dedicated effort to uphold traditional views against emerging skeptical perspectives, making it an important contribution to the history of theological thought and biblical scholarship.
