Rollan McCleary is of Irish and Australian nationalities, a doctor of religious studies from Queensland University published in mainly religion though he has also produced drama and poetry. His "The Expansion of God" in 1982 on the relations between Christianity and Asian cultures was a critical success and his "A Special Illumination: Authority, Inspiration and Heresy in Gay Spirituality" (2005) caused some controversy internationally. His recent "Reflections of an Only Child: A Memoir" (2014) includes concerning his long quest of the Magian wisdom on which has written two books ("Signs for a Messiah" and "Testament of the Magi") and his experiences of life in both East and West that has influenced his thought including creatively in poetry (most recent volume "Raphael and Lucifer and Other Visionary Poems" (2016)
