Larry Hurtado (1943-2019) was a renowned New Testament scholar and professor at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where he was also the founding director of the Centre for the Study of Christian Origins and head of the School of Divinity from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, he had been a pastor in Skokie, Illinois, and a professor at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. In 2008 he was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and from 2009 to 2012 served as president of the British New Testament Society.
