During questioning, Boone claimed that Torres voluntarily climbed into the suitcase during a game of hide and seek. She said she then went upstairs and fell asleep, waking hours later to find him unresponsive. However, investigators found evidence contradicting her story, including videos on her phone showing Torres begging to be let out of the suitcase while Boone taunted him. Boone was denied bail and has gone through multiple defense attorneys in the nearly two years since her arrest. Her case has faced many delays but is currently scheduled to go to trial starting January 30, 2024
