There is also an optional intermittent fasting component for this spiritual detox of the mind which follows the 16:8 intermittent fasting method where you fast (don't eat) for 16 hours and then you eat your meals during an 8-hour window each day. By setting aside a portion of the day (like 16 hours) to refrain from food, you not only discipline the mind by way of the mental detox you also discipline the body which is your temple in accordance with (1 Corinthians 6: 19: 20). Furthermore, fasting helps us to develop the fruit of discipline which is one of the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5: 22-23).
