She started writing after she was widowed and she had her first book, a biography, published in 2012. She has also had a number of articles published in the Guardian newspaper and in various magazines.

She's been an avid traveller since being widowed, travelling many times to the USA, visiting friends and relatives. She has also travelled extensively in the UK, following her love of country music. She found that travelling solo gave her more freedom to visit people, sometimes staying in their homes, enabling her to see and experience things not normally seen on the usual tourist trail. She has driven many thousands of miles in the USA during the ten years she regularly visited there.

The original story in this children's book was written by her late husband. After finding the manuscript languishing on a bookshelf, Moragh decided to extensively edit it and get it published for children everywhere to enjoy.

She also plans to eventually publish some of the many stories of her travels, which she's written about in her blog, 'Discovering the Real America'.

Her other hobbies are line dancing, music and oil painting. Iryna is an illustrator of children's books who lives near L'viv, Ukraine. She created the potato and animal characters which Moragh used to merge with the scenery. She assigned the copyright to all her illustrations to Moragh in 2014, to use as Moragh wished. Frank is the late husband of Moragh Carter. He wrote the original story, on which this book is based, sometime in the 1990s. It sat a bookshelf for many years until Moragh decided to rewrite it in a form suitable for publishing as an illustrated children's book.
