The Anchor and the Abyss: The Gatekeeper's Debt (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798249999117)

The Anchor and the Abyss is a sweeping mystical mystery that follows the journey of Rune, a powerful but guarded apothecary owner in the New Orleans French Quarter. Known as a "Gatekeeper," Rune possesses the rare ability to bridge the gap between the physical world and the supernatural realms. Her life is upended when she becomes entangled with Sloane, a Duke from a mysterious British royal bloodline who carries a terrifying cosmic burden: he is the living vessel for Chaos, a primordial force capable of unmaking reality.

The Conflict of Kings and Chaos

The story spans continents, moving from the jazz-soaked streets of New Orleans to the cold, oppressive stone of the North Wing in Great Britain. Rune and Sloane's love is a catalyst that triggers ancient prophecies. As they navigate a world of "First Blood" royalty and hidden occult societies, they are hunted by The Traveler-an ancient Druid priest who has cheated death for centuries. The Traveler seeks to hijack the power of Chaos, intending to use Sloane (and later their son, Elias) as a battery for his own dark rebirth.

The Sacrifice and the Void

As the struggle reaches a breaking point, the "monster" of Chaos threatens to consume Sloane's humanity entirely. In a climactic act of love and selflessness, Sloane sacrifices his divine power and his physical life to banish a demonic invasion and protect Rune and their newborn son. He disappears into the Void, leaving Rune to return to New Orleans as a grieving widow and a single mother.

The Return and the Ninth Gate

Ten years of mourning follow, during which Rune raises Elias, who possesses a "Third Power"-the ability to bridge worlds without the destructive curse of Chaos. When the Traveler resurfaces to claim the Ninth Gate (the boundary of Death), Rune is forced to confront her grief. Guided by the wisdom of the New Orleans "Old Guard" and armed with Angel Fire gifted by the Morning Star, Rune performs a final, heartbreaking ritual. She chooses to sever her connection to Sloane's soul, allowing the Chaos to return to the stars and Sloane to find peace in the light, effectively defeating the Traveler and the Druidic legacy forever.

The Resolution: A Second Chance

In a stunning twist governed by the "Law of the Universe," Rune's willingness to sacrifice her love results in a miracle. Because she released Sloane freely, the universe grants him a second chance. On Elias's eleventh birthday, Sloane returns-not as a King of Chaos, but as a Mundane man. Having spent years recovering from amnesia and building a life as a New Orleans detective, he reunites with his family. The novel concludes with the realization that true power lies not in celestial crowns, but in the Sovereignty of Choice, as the family begins a new, peaceful life defined by love rather than destiny.
