The Bag of Words: Poems from the Potteries (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798272974129)

The Bag of Words is a powerful and heartfelt collection that captures the voice of North Staffordshire in all its humour, grit, and tenderness.

Rooted in the working-class life of the Potteries, these poems move from the coal pits and factories to the warmth of the family kitchen, from the noise of pubs and terraces to the quiet ache of love and loss. The poet writes with honesty and compassion, blending everyday experience with lyrical insight.

Written for the page and the stage, this anthology celebrates the richness of dialect, memory, and community. It honours the people who shaped the region, their laughter and their struggles, their sense of belonging and endurance.

At its heart, The Bag of Words reminds us that our stories matter, our voices endure, and that even the simplest words can carry a lifetime of meaning.
