Bradford City Association Football Club was founded in 1903 when its predecessor, Manningham FC, abandoned rugby despite having been inaugural champions of the breakaway Northern Union (Rugby League) in 1896. After relegation back to the basement division in 2019 the club bounced back with promotion in 2025 and reached the League One play-offs in 2026. Bradford City is one of the best supported in the Football League and attendances in 2025/26 were at the highest level for more than a hundred years.
