The Baseline Psychotherapy Protocol: A Process-Based Manual for Working With Your Own Reactions (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798172783210)

Between what happens and what you do, there is a system. This book teaches you to see it, and to work with it.

You send an important message. Hours pass. No reply. One person puts the phone down and moves on. Another checks it forty times, builds a story, and cancels the evening. The event is the same. The reaction is not.

The Baseline Psychotherapy Protocol is a clinical, process-based method for taking your own reactions apart, developed by psychotherapist J.R. Hernandez and used in his practice with clients in more than twenty countries. Not positive thinking. Not another breathing hack. A structured way of seeing what your system is doing, and choosing what happens next.

Inside:
The clinical map from stimulus to behavior: how a reaction is actually built. How to read the body before the story, and separate what happened from what your mind added. Why the urge to stop feeling something is often what keeps the problem alive. Cognitive defusion, grounding without reassurance, and direction based on values instead of fear. A step-by-step sequence you can practice on your own, one reaction at a time.

Written in clear, honest language, grounded in verified research (every scientific claim in this book is referenced), and designed for real use: for professionals running on empty, for overthinkers, for anyone whose reactions arrive faster than their choices.

You will not stop having difficult moments. You will stop being a passenger in them.

J.R. Hernandez is a psychotherapist specialized in burnout and mood disorders, trained in Medical Neuroscience at Duke University School of Medicine, with the American Psychological Association's specialization in anxiety and mood disorders. He founded Baseline Psychotherapy in New York in 2019.
