When Wally encounters a tragdy himself, it influences KIle, LD and their friend Eric (as a coach) to all join a Los Angeles team. LD encounters many scandals, some of them sexuall, along the way as he continues to pile up championships while Kile encounters his true calling as he uses the Olympic tour a vehicle for his spiritual enlightenment. Wally's real character, a blond, blue-eyed, motor-cycle-riding, guitar-playing surfer with the athleticism of a black player.
