The Black Drift: A Science-Fiction Adventure (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781916970892)

A BAD IDEA IN SPACE.

A FLEET THAT NEVER LEFT.

AND A PRIZE THAT SHOULD HAVE STAYED LOST.

The Black Drift eats ships. No one knows why, and no one comes back.

Which makes it, in Rask's professional opinion, exactly worth investigating.

Inside, it's worse than the rumours: dead ships drifting in impossible formation, physics that only works when it feels like it, and a growing crowd of pirates who've all realised the same thing at the same time-there's something at the centre.

A Core.

And whatever it is, it's valuable enough to turn curiosity into conflict. One faction wants to weaponise it. Another wants to control it. A third is prepared to tear the entire Drift apart to make sure no one else ever can.

Now Rask and the Meridian crew are stuck in the middle of a salvage job that's turned into a race, a war, and possibly the worst decision they've ever made.

Because the Drift isn't just a trap.

It's a vault.
