The Bokhara Victims (1845) (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781120872258)

The Bokhara Victims is a historical book written by John Grover and published in 1845. The book is a detailed account of the brutal treatment of British officers and soldiers during their captivity in Bokhara, a city in present-day Uzbekistan, in the early 19th century. The book describes the events leading up to the capture of the British soldiers by the Emir of Bokhara, and their subsequent imprisonment and torture. The author provides a vivid description of the harsh conditions in which the prisoners were kept, including their forced labor, lack of food and water, and physical abuse. The book also explores the efforts made by the British government to secure the release of the prisoners, including negotiations with the Emir and military campaigns against the city. The Bokhara Victims offers a unique perspective on the historical relationship between Britain and Central Asia, and sheds light on the experiences of British soldiers in captivity during the 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
