After the tragic events of September 11, the United States and its allies launched an invasion of Afghanistan, with the goal of putting an end to the Taliban's oppressive rule. The plight of the Afghan people, long forgotten by the rest of the world, once again caught the attention of the international community, and aid flowed in from countries all over the globe. News of the Afghan government's rebuilding efforts spread rapidly, and soon thousands of Afghan refugees who had fled to neighboring countries began to return, eager to start anew and help rebuild their homeland.
The Sami's family was among those who decided to return. They had been living in Iran for 14 years, forced to flee Afghanistan during the Taliban's initial takeover. But as the new Afghan government, heavily influenced by the United States, became an ally of the U.S., Iran's government changed its stance towards Afghan refugees like the Sami's family. New restrictions were imposed, making life even more difficult for them. They lived in a state of constant fear, never sure if they would be able to stay in Iran or if they would be forced to return to their war-torn country of birth.
Sami, a young boy, has spent most of his life as a refugee in Iran, away from his homeland of Afghanistan. He grew up in a foreign land, disconnected from the familiar culture and traditions of his home country. But now, as a young adult, he and his family has made the decision to return to Afghanistan, to the mountainside where his family resides.
As soon as he arrives, Sami is faced with the harsh reality of the war-torn country. The once picturesque mountains are now scarred by the ravages of war and poverty. His family's home, like many others, is in ruins. Sami's father, mother, and two younger sisters are struggling to make ends meet, and the future looks bleak.
The family's land, which was once their source of livelihood, has been taken by his father's half-brother. This has led to a long-standing conflict between the two brothers, and ultimately led to the death of Sami's father.
Sami, as the eldest son, now feels the weight of responsibility on his shoulders to support and provide for his family. He is determined to do whatever it takes to keep his family alive in this difficult environment.
Sami's struggles are not limited to just providing for his family's basic needs. He must also navigate the dangers of living in a war-torn country. The threat of violence and insecurity is ever-present, and Sami must be constantly vigilant to protect his family. He must also contend with the emotional toll that these challenges take on his family, as they struggle to come to terms with the loss of their father and the harsh realities of life in Afghanistan.
Despite the overwhelming odds against him, Sami is determined to make a better life for his family. He takes on odd jobs and scavenges for food, using every means necessary to provide for them. He also tries to give them hope, reminding them that there is a better future ahead. His family is his motivation, and he will do whatever it takes to keep them safe and provide for them.
