The British Plastic Rocket: Fibreglass, V8 Noise, and the Sports Car That Refused Restraint (Independent Book) (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798901948835)

A low body, a thunderous V8, a fibreglass skin and a reputation that mixed beauty with danger: this was one of Britain's most unforgettable modern sports cars. The British Plastic Rocket tells the story of a raw, handmade roadster that refused to become polite, polished or ordinary.

This clear, plain-English automotive history explores how a small British manufacturer turned familiar ingredients into something legendary: lightweight construction, rear-wheel drive, manual control, a Rover-derived V8, dramatic styling and a driving experience with very little between driver, machine and road. It examines the car's design, chassis, engine, sound, handling, cabin, ownership demands, restoration issues, collector appeal and lasting place in British sports-car culture.

Written for classic-car enthusiasts, British motoring fans and readers who enjoy honest automotive storytelling, this book looks beyond the myth. It explains why the car became so loved, why it could intimidate, why maintenance and chassis condition matter so much, and why its loud, imperfect character still captures the imagination decades later.
