The Burden of Comparison (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798892488419)

"The Burden of Comparison" was born as a provocative expansion of the article " That's Not All on Comparative Methodologies" (written in 2023 and published in 2024), which generated wide debate in the academic community. This book challenges the foundations of comparative methodology, exposing its limits and proposing alternative approaches to understanding social phenomena and public policies in an ever-changing world. The work explores how, despite its usefulness, comparison can distort local and cultural realities when applied uncritically or normatively. With a rigorous and provocative approach, the book analyzes the tensions between theory and practice, the ethical challenges of research, and the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. At the same time, it proposes a pluralistic model that respects the historical, social, and cultural specificities of the phenomena studied. A detailed case study of Ramesh Mishra's trajectory exemplifies the dangers and potentialities of comparative methodology. It invites readers to reconsider their scientific approaches. This book deconstructs "militant" science and opens space for inclusive and plural thinking.
