Here is the story of Milton Pillsbury: The Cat Who Came In From The Cold. The sole survivor of a litter of nine who were thrown outside on their farm as soon as their mother weened them. Tossed out by Old Man Colton Pillsbury to fend for themselves and clear his barns of mice and birds. Not that the old man didn't have any compassion; he'd feed them something on his porch most days. At least those that survived the windy and bitter cold nights on the farm. But when Old Pillsbury died, his son Tanner and wife Grace adopted the 'war torn' sole survivor, Milton Pillsbury.
While there, they chanced upon a descendent; his great niece Alice, who was pregnant. Tanner and Grace Pillsbury took Milton and their daughter Kim, unable to have children of her own, and her husband Grady agreed to adopt the expectant Alice. Several months later, Kim and Grady Castro arrange a trip to their parents, taking along their Alice and her small litter of kittens. During the visit, Milton recounts to his tiny brood of descendants many 'war' stories about life as a barn cat. Also, giving them useful and sage advice to prepare them for their futures.
On the backdrop of Milton's 'coming out of the cold, ' Kim Grady's inability to get pregnant herself, and Alice's fear for the future of her small brood, are all their hopes and dreams. All is not bleak, however. Because there may very well be some winter magic in their visit that brings joy to all participants; cats and people both.
