The Child And Nature V1: Or Geography Teaching With Sand Modeling (1888) (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781120735454)

The Child and Nature V1: Or Geography Teaching with Sand Modeling is a book written by Alex Everett Frye and originally published in 1888. The book is a guide for teachers who want to incorporate sand modeling into their geography lessons as a way to engage their students in learning about the natural world. The book is divided into two parts. The first part provides an overview of the benefits of sand modeling as a teaching tool and includes instructions for creating sand models of various geographical features such as mountains, rivers, and coastlines. The second part of the book includes lesson plans for teaching geography using sand modeling, with each lesson focusing on a different aspect of the natural world such as weather patterns, plant life, and animal habitats.Throughout the book, Frye emphasizes the importance of connecting children with nature and encouraging them to explore and appreciate the world around them. He argues that sand modeling is a highly effective way to do this, as it allows children to use their hands and imaginations to create and explore different landscapes. Overall, The Child and Nature V1: Or Geography Teaching with Sand Modeling is a valuable resource for educators who are looking for creative and engaging ways to teach geography and connect their students with the natural world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
