The Tenacity of Hope is a memoir that tells the story of how a mother and daughter were let down by the Haitian justice system when they needed it the most. The story follows my mother, Marie-Micheline Dantica, through being abandoned as a baby, becoming pregnant as a teenager, having the father of her baby turn his back on her, and being mercilessly abused by the man she subsequently married a man who went on to sexually abuse me from the time I was just six years old. This sad but all-too-common story has a hopeful ending; however, as it tells of how I galvanized my victimization into the strength I needed to start the only international non-profit organization that is focused on providing battered women and children in Haiti with shelter and protection. 50% of the proceeds of the book sales will be donated to Haiti projects for battered women and children
