As the creator of the character, even though he was merely a figment of the author's imagination, he had to deal with some very real emotions, like grief, when he died. It took him more than a fortnight to deal with the issues raised. But there will be some readers who have had to deal with the death of real people as the outcome of a motorcycle accident. The author could not hope to plumb the depths of sadness that some of you will have experienced as a result. But the point is, riding a motorcycle comes with a level of risk to life and limb that is not shared with many other forms of transport. It does not matter how good a rider you are, or how long you have been riding, motorcycle riding is a dangerous activity.
