The Code: A Devotional for Cultivating Light, Love, and Liberation (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798270435134)

The Code: A Devotional for Cultivating Love, Light, and Liberation is a yearlong devotional that calls its readers into a lifestyle of courageous love, faithful resistance, and communal accountability. Written at the intersection of Scripture, Black liberation theology, and cultural critique, this devotional is rooted in the sacred tradition of the Black church while speaking prophetically into the complexities of today's social and spiritual climate.

Each monthly devotional draws from both the ancient wisdom of the Bible and the urgent cries of modern life. Whether exploring the fiery warnings of injustice in The Fire Next Time, the beauty of communal healing in Love & Service: A Beloved Covering, or the countercultural faith of Faith in Unorthodox Promises, this devotional invites readers to deepen their relationship with God while refusing to conform to the unjust norms of society.

Throughout the twelve-month journey, readers are equipped to:

• Resist conformity to empire by embracing divine transformation

• Discern God's will amid political deception and spiritual decline

• Confront suffering with hope rooted in God's presence and purpose

• Build a liberated community sustained by love, justice, and truth

• Reclaim their divine identity in a world that seeks to erase it

Each devotional includes:

• A Scriptural foundation for critical reflection

• Pastoral and prophetic exposition grounded in context and culture

• A "Devotional Soundtrack" pairing traditional Black hymns with "Ghetto Psalms" - lyrical insights from hip-hop artists such as OutKast, Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, J. Cole, Killer Mike, and others

• Weekly breakout charts to guide personal and group engagement

• Reflective prompts to spark journaling, communal conversation, and discipleship

As systems of oppression continue to evolve, so must our witness as Christ-followers. This devotional was written for such a time as this - for the pastor seeking language to shepherd a hurting people, for the teacher cultivating revolutionary hope in their classroom, for the young activist organizing for justice, and for anyone yearning for a faith that is both authentic and liberative.

Above all, The Code challenges readers to move from passive belief to active discipleship - to not only read the Word, but to embody it. Drawing from Scriptures such as Romans 12, 1 Peter 4, Joshua 24, and Genesis 15, each month builds upon a vision of a beloved community grounded in the most powerful force in the universe: love.

This is not simply a devotional. It is a call to become a new kind of people.
A revolutionary people.
A resilient people.
A beloved people - living by a code that covers, heals, empowers, and endures.
