The Coin That Shouldn't Exist (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798188512323)

A single coin should never have been enough to threaten an entire afterlife.

When Aldren Ashcroft dies, he awakens in Incartum-an ancient realm where every religion's afterlife exists side by side. In the sprawling gothic city of Mysteria, demons, spirits and forgotten souls build new lives beneath towering cathedrals, winding alleyways and impossible skies. Death, it seems, was only the beginning.

As a newcomer, Aldren expects to spend his days learning the strange customs of his new existence. Instead, a routine visit to the Bank beneath Western Mysteria changes everything.

The smiling Attendant has never misplaced a coin.

He has never forgotten a customer.

He has never encountered gold without an owner.

Until now.

A single impossible coin sets events in motion that ripple across Incartum. Hunted by collectors, scholars and those who would exploit its mystery, Aldren is drawn into a world of ancient institutions and enigmatic figures who have quietly shaped the afterlife for longer than anyone can remember.

To uncover the truth, he must seek the guidance of Theelan, the mysterious proprietor of the Nightmare Casino, where every wager reveals the heart of the player, and Veska, the compassionate keeper of the Apothecary, whose knowledge of life, death and everything between may hold the key to a mystery older than history itself.

But in a world where every object has a past, every soul leaves a mark, and every promise is remembered...

...what does it mean to find something with no history at all?

The Coin That Shouldn't Exist is the first novel in the Chronicles of Incartum, a gothic dark fantasy series filled with mystery, unforgettable characters and an afterlife unlike any you've experienced before. Perfect for readers who enjoy richly imagined worlds, philosophical fantasy and slow-burning mysteries where every answer reveals an even greater question.
