Notting Hill Carnival - London: Chris meets Danelle - it's love at first sight. Without a racist bone inside him Chris is shocked to find Danelle's family are violently opposed to the couple's relationship. Living on the Isle of Wight, Chris naively believes they will come round - they won't! Despite intimidation Chris and Danelle attempt to pursue their natural inclinations but, when threats have no effect, the elder brother is dispatched to offer extreme violence. Can love survive such abuse? Up to a point but, when Chris is hospitalised things change..... What we end up asking is how far would any of us go to pursue the love of our life?

Broc Silva is based on the Isle of Wight. A reform school kid with low hopes, poor self-esteem and a poor attitude, by some miracle he has become an author of immense promise. Despite suffering a lifetime of depressive illness and doubt his ability to plough on regardless when there seemed little hope has proven to be the correct attitude as his novels (and their consistent quality) are mounting up. The Colour Thing, especially explores some of these issues through the main male character. Broc supports MIND charity
