The Control Of Industry By The People Through The Cooperative Movement (1920) (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781120740076)

The Control of Industry by the People Through the Cooperative Movement is a book written by Leonard S. Woolf in 1920. The book discusses the concept of cooperative movement, which emphasizes the control of industry by the people. It explores the idea that industries should be owned and managed by the workers themselves, rather than by a small group of capitalists. Woolf argues that the cooperative movement is a solution to the problems of industrial capitalism, which he sees as exploitative and unjust. He provides examples of successful cooperative movements in various industries, such as agriculture, banking, and retail. The book also discusses the challenges and obstacles faced by the cooperative movement, including the lack of capital, the difficulty of organizing workers, and the resistance of the capitalist class. The book is a call to action for workers to organize themselves and take control of their industries. It presents a vision of a society in which workers are empowered and able to shape their own economic destiny. The Control of Industry by the People Through the Cooperative Movement is an important work in the history of socialist thought and cooperative economics, and its ideas continue to be relevant today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
