Lon Schiffbauer is an Assistant Professor of Business Management at Salt Lake Community College and Research Director with Vivifi, a business strategy consulting firm dedicated to helping companies develop thriving organizational cultures. In addition to his academic and consulting background, Lon has over 25 years' experience working for such companies as FedEx, Intel, and eBay, as well as a variety of small to mid-sized companies around the world. Lon holds an MBA and a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. For his doctoral dissertation he studied the effects of the pursuit of self-esteem on an employee's ability to thrive in the workplace. He is also SPHR certified with the Society for Human Resource Management. Lon grew up in Palo Alto, CA, then went on to study and work in England, France, Japan, and Malaysia before settling in Sandy, Utah. Over the years Lon has accomplished many of his life's goals by using the principles included in this book. Together with his wife of close to 30 years Lon raised a family of five kids, earned several university degrees and certifications, and completed dozens of endurance sporting events; Ironman races, marathons, and century bike rides. With the help of his business partner, Lon started a successful consulting firm that supported clients all over the world. He also wrote several books and successfully transitioned his career from the corporate to the academic arena. Throughout all this, Lon maintained a healthy balance in his life by focusing his efforts on what mattered most at the time.
