The Dawn Line: The Saga Begins

It started with a spark.

Not a metaphor. An actual spark - orange, electric, impossible - snapping between high school seniors who had just met at a debate tournament in Michigan's frozen Upper Peninsula.

Ed Grubermann thought it was static electricity. He was wrong.

Candy Schmidt knew exactly what it was. She just wasn't ready to explain it yet.

What follows is one of the most unlikely love stories you'll ever read - part small-town romance, part coming-of-age adventure, part science fiction mystery hiding in plain sight. Set against the snow-buried backroads, bowling alleys, and church halls of the UP, The Dawn Line is the story of two sharp, funny, deeply human people falling for each other one letter at a time - while forces neither of them fully understands are watching, measuring, and filing reports.

Because Candy Schmidt isn't entirely human. Neither are her sisters. And the community she comes from - the Borak - have been living quietly among us for a very long time, following rules that govern everything from romance to biology to the precise color of a glow that only certain people can see.

Ed doesn't know any of this yet.

But he's starting to figure it out.

With wit sharp enough to draw blood, characters warm enough to keep you reading past midnight, and a mystery that deepens with every chapter, The Dawn Line is a story about what happens when two people are exactly right for each other - and the universe decides to make it complicated.

The saga begins here.

Perfect for fans of Outlander, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and small-town romance with a twist you won't see coming.
