Despite appearances to the contrary, Brendan doesn't have everything. Yes, it's true that he has money and a bright future in business, but he doesn't really want either of those things. Then he and Kari go for a walk by the river one afternoon, and they uncover a sleeping being who claims to be Lucifer himself, and who says that he's now bonded to them.
