The need to examine the dynamics of the parent/child relationship is nothing new. We may be in a new generation but the various dynamics that make up the parent/child relationship is the same as they have always been. The parent and the child are each individuals and sometimes navigating through the parent/child relationship can be rather rocky. My name is Dr. Calvert Moore and I have had a chance to witness many different types of parent/child relationships and the lasting effects it can have on one's life. The views and subjects discussed in this book are solely my own. By having had a chance to work with children and their parents, it became clear to me that there is sometimes a disconnect that causes the child and/or the parent to experience unnecessary hardships that could have possibly been avoided if the parent/child relationship was given the attention that it needed. Just as any other relationship, the parent/child relationship requires work and attention. I wrote this book so not only the parent and the child can learn about one another but they can also take time to reflect on themselves. While reading this book you may find that some topics do not pertain to both the parent and the child but please continue to read on as you will obtain clarity as you near the conclusion. Remember, everyone's situation is different and some of the information may not always apply directly to you.

Calvert Moore, DNP, MS, BSN, ADN, RN, APHN-BC is a registered nurse who has been in the healthcare field for more than 10+ years. She has had an opportunity to obtain her Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degree in nursing; as well as her Board Certification as an Advance Public Health Nurse. With her vast knowledge and experience, Dr. Moore has run a community health program focusing on students, parents, staff, and community in several Baltimore City Public Schools. She is the founder and operator of a sexually transmitted disease prevention program entitled The FAST Project in which FAST stands for Fighting Adolescent STD Rates Through Education. Within this program she also does mentoring for young ladies and workshops for parents. Dr. Moore is also an adjunct faculty member for the RN-BSN program at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Dr. Moore has a passion for helping others and with the work that she has done, she noticed that the topic of the parent/child relationship is a topic that needs to be addressed. She believes that children could be more successful if they and their parent strengthen or even acknowledge the dynamics of their relationship and come up with a plan to create a more stable foundation.
