The Fingering: A surprise-packed Mafia crime thriller from the author of the sci-fi classic Alternative 3 (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798666384374)

Life changes astonishingly for Michael Court, a mild-mannered bank manager in a peaceful English town, when he unwillingly and unwittingly receives a bizarre inheritance - the services of Mafia hit-man Jake Donlan, a sinister cut-throat murderer who assassinates to order. Because of a strange legacy written into his will by New York Godfather, Don Guido Corte, the bank manager and the gunman are plunged into a dilemma. Court does not want anyone 'wasted' and Donlan, who has lost his nerve and has done with killing, does not want to do more 'wastings'. The Cosa Nostra mobster yearns for retirement but knows that failing to obey orders could bring a lethal backlash - his own homicide. Their shared problem explodes when a domestic crisis hits Court. This memorably unusual story shows Sicilian family life through five generations in settings as diverse as London, New York, Sicily and Hawaii.
