The First Shift (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798233755484)

Turning twelve is hard.
Turning into a mythical creature is harder.

On her twelfth birthday, Ayla discovers she's a Mythomorph-a shapeshifter who can transform into mythical creatures.

But instead of becoming a fierce dragon or majestic griffin, Ayla transforms into a cat. A cat with one magical power - necromancy.

Not one to waste even this odd power, Ayla is determined to help her best friend deal with the school bully. Instead of an ugly confrontation, Ayla solves the problem by throwing the most unusual dance party the town has ever seen. Misson accomplished.

But a single taste of magical power isn't enough.

Ayla makes the most difficult choice of her life. She leaves behind her ordinary world and spells herself to Mythomorph Academy, a hidden school where students learn to perfect their shapeshifting abilities.

At Mythomorph Academy she finds new friends, unique creatures, and a magical world far bigger-and stranger-than she ever imagined.

But something is wrong.

The Magical Gyrocompass that keeps the magic aligned is failing.

Students are getting stuck mid-shift. A dark force is assembling outside the school. And the Harmonic Regulator that could repair the gyrocompass has gone missing.

With time running out, Ayla and her friends must leave the safety of the academy, face unpredictable magical creatures, outwit a fairy army, and restore the balance before the entire magical world unravels.

Sometimes, saving the world begins with your very first shift.

The First Shift is a humorous fantasy adventure perfect for readers who love magical schools, unusual creatures, and heroes discovering powers they never expected.
