Before he passed, Ann Binder Anovitz's father, Beryl Bernie Binder, would often sit down with his grandchildren and tell them stories. The stories included details and adventures of his life growing up with his grandfather, Yankel Wolfe Aynbinder, in a ghetto village in the town of Horchov, in the state of Volhynia, in the area of Russia known as the Ukraine. According to Ann, "With the help of my son-in-law writer, Keith Kramer, what started as a simple task became a years-long research project and writing effort". Of course, their tireless and relentless effort resulted in the initial manuscript for THE GOLDEN LAND.
