The Grace of Christ, Fourth Edition (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798385259762)

Know the profound depth of the gospel as Paul the Apostle intended. The Grace of Christ, Fourth Edition delivers a clear, uncompromising look into "the things freely given to us by God" by letting Paul's Spirit-taught words interpret themselves (1 Cor 2:12-13). Luther's recovery of God's saving righteousness through faith in Christ is and remains central to the Gospel (Rom 1:16-17). This right standing with God is through the faith of Jesus Christ (his obedience unto death) to and upon all those believing in him. Christ-believers have died with Christ to the lordship of the sin and the law and are alive to God in Christ Jesus--his resurrection life, freeing them to live in "the obedience of faith"--to walk in the Spirit, for the purpose of eternal life: knowing God the Father and his Son in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Thus, their life is to be one of ongoing faith in Christ for justification, and through that faith, obedience to Christ as Lord, who leads them by his Spirit. The Fourth Edition In addition to a few other theological changes for the better, this edition features a groundbreaking shift in the author's understanding of baptism. By connecting Paul's words to the Corinthians ("into Christ's name") directly to the definitive baptism of Rom 6 ("into Christ Jesus"), this edition reveals an apostolic view of Christian identity according to Paul's gospel of God.
