She has written about young adult dystopia, Spider-Man, maps in genre fiction, and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Her current research centers on adaptations into and out of the comics form. Balaka Basu is assistant professor of English literature at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She won a best edited book award by the Children's Literature Association in 2015 for her co-edited collection on contemporary dystopian fiction.
