Author and illustrator, Attie Koekemoer lives in Linden, Johannesburg, South Africa. He is married to Isolde and they have two kids; Antjie and Jannes. Attie has enjoyed creating comics and cartoons since his early childhood and with his brother as a partner he has been developing computer games since 1982. With his schooling complete, Attie went on to study classical languages at the University of Pretoria but the art of animation has always been his passion. Artattack was the name of an illustration and animation studio he started with a friend in 1995. In 2000 he joined the Koekemoer family business in the cycling industry, and this has also involved him with the publication of the cycling magazine, Ride. In Sparrow and Jumbo he combines his passion for drawing, language and cycling in a colourful tale about a boy whose bicycle became his best friend.
