The Holy Devil (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781025398624)

"The Holy Devil" is a compelling biographical account of Grigori Rasputin, one of the most enigmatic figures in Russian history. Rene Fulop-Miller masterfully traces the meteoric rise of the illiterate Siberian peasant who transformed into a powerful mystic, exerting a profound and controversial influence over the Romanov dynasty. Through meticulous research and vivid narrative, the work explores Rasputin's dual nature-as a man of deep spiritual fervor and a figure of scandalous excess.

The book delves into the complex political and social climate of early 20th-century Russia, illustrating how Rasputin's proximity to Tsar Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna contributed to the destabilization of the imperial court. By examining his alleged healing powers and his role as a spiritual advisor, Fulop-Miller provides a nuanced portrait of a man whose presence became a catalyst for the eventual downfall of the monarchy. "The Holy Devil" remains an essential text for understanding the intersection of faith, power, and intrigue during the final days of the Russian Empire, offering readers a deep dive into the legend and reality of the man known as the mad monk.
