Sharman Apt Russell has published some dozen books translated into a dozen languages. Sharman is the recipient of the John Burroughs Medal for Distinguished Nature Writing, a Rockefeller Fellowship, WILLA Award, New Mexico Arizona Book Award, Arizona Authors Award, and Pushcart Prize, among other honors. She teaches at Western New Mexico University in Silver City, NM and Antioch University in Los Angeles. She has served three times as the PEN judge for Best Children's Literature.
