The Interviews (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781944527044)

Ian Bloom wrote The Interviews at age 32, as his work expanded across painting, film, fashion, music, and systems design. Bloom is an art dealer. Collected here is a long-form conversation that functions less as documentation than as articulation-a living record of how a mind moves through form, structure, and consequence.

Part autobiography, part aesthetic theory, part operational philosophy, The Interviews track Bloom from Los Angeles to New York, Japan, and Europe, moving through art history, cinema, fashion, finance, and architecture without hierarchy. The voice is direct, unsentimental, and precise. The questions are scaffolding. The answers do the work.

Themes recur: motion and stillness, system and instinct, brutality and grace, solitude and scale. Bloom speaks on art as structure, fashion as survival technology, cinema as spatial control, and the discipline required to build a coherent world without compromise. References move freely-from Michelangelo to Tarkovsky, Ralph Lauren to Helmut Lang, Two-Lane Blacktop to Beethoven-forming a unified aesthetic field rather than a list of influences.

Published as a standalone volume, The Interviews function as an access key to the broader canon: a verbal map of the territory the films, books, and objects inhabit. It is not a retrospective and not a manifesto. It is a record of alignment.

This is the voice behind the infrastructure.
