Matthew DeBettencourt grew up in Central Massachusetts, the middle of five children. At an early age, he loved to read, but even more so he loved to write. As young as second grade, Matthew would write short fantasy tales about movies he'd seen or drawings he'd make, creating characters, names and stories purely from imagination. As he got older, the stories developed even further, and as his writing improved, he began to write longer, more in depth stories. His first published work, The Island of Time, was based on characters that he created with the help of his sister and brothers. It was written through his high school career, and finally published in 2009 when he was 22 years old. Matthew currently works at a community bank based in Southbridge, Massachusetts and is continuing to write in his spare time.
