This imagery is first found in the journey of the author, a psychologist and pastoral counselor. From birth through his 20s, the doctrines and teachings of Roman Catholicism and Protestantism poured into his mind. In his late 20s, he flushed out the entire deposit of the religion of Christianity, replacing it with Secular Humanism. He lived within the beliefs of Secular Humanism until they were no longer life-giving and became "waste blood" within his soul.
As he let Secular Humanism drain out of his soul, he discovered new "donor blood" that poured in as he drank deeply of the supposed heavenly elixir of New Age Spirituality.
