The KaliSun Initiative series is a near-future science fiction story set in Earth's Solar system. The second book, The Price of Progress, picks up immediately after the end of The KaliSun Initiative, as the consequences of the Corporation's first attempt at interstellar travel become painfully evident. Daily combat rages around the Moon-Based Training Center as the two sides struggle to establish dominance. The Chinese, in an effort to secure the high ground for renewed combat on Earth, and the KaliSun Corporation trying to survive and maintain the tenuous link to their facility on Saturn's moon Phoebe.

With their ability to return to Earth in question, the Director of Phoebe Base, John Hatfield, is confronted by the fears of his crew - fears only heightened when a new threat emerges from a most unexpected direction.
