Ryan Z. Dawson was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and he began writing poetry, short stories, and songs at an early age. His first attempts at narrative fiction were single-page sword and sorcery tales featuring characters and situations inspired by He-Man and the 1982 film *Conan the Barbarian.* In junior high school, he developed an interest in "conlanging" and devised several constructed languages. Now living in southern Indiana with his wife, Lisa, he has written five novel-length stories and more than 1000 original songs and poems. *The King's Eagle* is his publishing debut.
