The Lambton Worm (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781917231060)

Something is evolving in the Meritocracy's computers that can't be contained, something that could spell the end of an unstable international peace.

Jananin Blake calls science's finest minds to Torrmede in Northeast England, in search of a solution to a computer virus capable of adapting as fast as it can be confronted. But the one person best qualified to combat the emerging threat is dead, assassinated in a conflict over his discoveries.

Disillusioned with the new order and struggling against the institutions that have overshadowed her entire life, Dana Provine is failing academically and socially. She and her brothers, Peter and Cale, may be the only ones capable of recovering lost knowledge crucial for stopping the virus. As global networks and computer systems become increasingly disrupted and dysfunctional, hostile foreign powers begin to see both blame and opportunity. War breaks out. At her darkest hour, someone comes into Dana's life, the sole survivor of a family destroyed by a cycle of abuse. She's determined to atone for her part in it and, more than anything, to prevent history from repeating itself again. With time running out, her help may be key to solving the enigma of the Lambton Worm.
