The Lao Tzu: The way of Life (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781967799909)

The Lao Tzu, in honor of Lao Tzu, is also known as The Tao Te Ching or The Dao De Jing. Dao is a profound, ineffable spirit that Lao Tzu sensed, yet it never spoke to him directly, so he named it Dao, One, Providence, or Fortune. De signifies achievement or accomplishment, and Jing means scripture. This work is regarded as the foundational scripture for achieving enlightenment through the Dao.

Translated with an introduction by An Yu, this second edition reflects a careful study of prior translations, many of which fail to capture the essence of the original text. By drawing on the silk manuscript "The Four Classics of the Yellow Emperor," unearthed from the Han Dynasty tomb of Mawangdui in 1973, An Yu restores a coherent, logical, and faithful interpretation of the Dao's teachings.

This edition guides modern readers through the timeless wisdom of The Lao Tzu, emphasizing selflessness, humility, contentment, and ethical governance. From understanding the cyclical nature of being and non-being to cultivating inner tranquility and moral leadership, the book offers profound insights into personal growth, societal harmony, and the principles of enlightened leadership. It is a valuable resource for anyone seeking guidance in life, philosophy, and the practice of Dao.
