The Last Campsite: A Moody Mystery (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781907551192)

Travel writer Gus hates everything about this camping trip. He didn't apply for an assignment profiling "The 10 Most Scenic RV Campgrounds in America." Articles like this-the kind he ruthlessly mocks-are all s'mores and sentimentality. He's here because he needs the money (his trailer needs new tires), and this place makes him miserable.

The listless cast of RV Week travelers at stop #4 could drive anyone crazy. Whispering Pines RV Haven, deep in Montana's beautiful but isolating Bitterroot Valley, is idyllic in every way...except for Gus's new neighbor: foul-mouthed viral survival influencer Ransom "Ranger" Quick. With his constant GoLOL livestreams ("Bear-Proof Your Cabin in 4 Easy Steps!") and hyperglow titanium trailer that cost more than Gus's house ($200k deluxe off-grid model), Ransom is exasperatingly enthusiastic about everything.

Including death. Gus watches from behind one-way glass as Ransom's Springer Spaniel barks at nothing, then growls at the unmoving form of his blog superstar neighbor crumpled in the floor. Ransom's trailer door stands open and inviting. His body is slumped over in his handmade sleeping bag...dead. No blood. No bruising. No apparent cause. His vaunted Survivorman's emergency bag has been searched.

Somehow. Local sheriff Samuels dismisses it as "not murder" an allergic reaction, perhaps. A heart attack in his sleep. Or maybe a snake bite. Gus's lived next to enough bodies to know something didn't add up. When a storm traps everyone in the campground and he starts getting answers, Gus finds himself digging into murders past-and present. Because unless Gus can uncover who didn't want Ranger Quick to leave camp alive...he could be next.
