The Life I Wasn't Supposed to Have (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798193824435)

What happens when a life that was never supposed to succeed refuses to surrender?

Born into instability and placed into foster care as an infant, John F. Xuereb passed through approximately twelve placements before the age of three. The homes that promised safety brought abandonment, violence and abuse. By fifteen, he was living alone, carrying anger, loneliness and the belief that his life had little value.

But somewhere beneath the pain was a voice that refused to disappear.

Bodybuilding became John's armor, his refuge and the one promise he could keep. It helped him build a successful career, compete at an elite level and spend more than forty years empowering others to discover their own strength. Yet success did not erase the wounds. Addiction, broken relationships, betrayal, open-heart surgery, Functional Neurological Disorder, a devastating motorcycle accident and paralysis would repeatedly force him to redefine what strength truly meant.

The Life I Wasn't Supposed to Have is not a polished story of perfect redemption. It is an unfiltered memoir about survival, accountability, faith and the stubborn human power to continue when every answer has not yet arrived.

John eventually returns to the frightened three-year-old boy waiting in a rocking chair and realizes that the man he became must be the person that child always needed.

Each chapter concludes with a powerful "Building Block," transforming lived experience into insight without pretending trauma was necessary or that healing is easy.

This book is for anyone who has felt abandoned, broken, misunderstood or uncertain whether they have the strength to continue. Your past may have shaped you, but it does not have to become the final definition of who you are.

While you are still here, his story is still being written.
