Wendell Karsen was ordained as a Christian minister by the Reformed Church in America in 1963. He served two parishes in Michigan for seven years and then as a Christian missionary in Taiwan (1969-1973), Hong Kong (1974-84, 1990-98) and Indonesia (1998-2000). In Taiwan, he served The Presbyterian Church in Taiwan as the Coordinator of University Student Work. He developed programs in seven university locations and established the Summer English Program. In Hong Kong, he taught at Ying Wa College for three years, served the Hong Kong Christian Council as its Education and Communications Secretary for 12 years and was the Senior Minister at Union Church Hong Kong for two years. In Indonesia he served the Wesley Methodist Church in Medan, Sumatra and founded the Bukit Doa International Church in Nusa Dua, Bali before retiring. He also taught at the Reformed Church in America's Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI for six years (1984, 2001-2006) where he was the Director of its Master of Theology program. Rev. Karsen is the author of twelve books and numerous magazine and newspaper articles. He and his first wife, Joyce Hughes Karsen (deceased in 1989) had four children - Stephen, Philip, Rachel and Andrew. He was married to Amerentia (Renske) Greve in 1991. They have nine grandchildren. Rev. & Mrs. Karsen now live at the Penney Retirement Community in Penney Farms, FL where Renske (a registered nurse) and he keep busy lecturing, preaching, writing, singing, counseling and serving the PRC community and the wider community in numerous ways. They are currently members of the First Presbyterian Church of Green Cove Springs, FL.
