Kelly O'Connell is a Cape Cod native who spent two decades in New York City managing product development and marketing for lifestyle brands Martha Stewart and The Pioneer Woman. In 2020, she opened a pop-up roadside jam stand as a COVID hobby after learning to make jam for her dad, who loves toast. In 2021, O'Connell launched the Lighthouse Keeper's brand of gourmet foods with her business partner Greg Bilezikian. The line expanded from just jams to hot sauces, condiments, pickles, dressings, and cocktail mixes. To showcase products, they established a café and gourmet retail shop in the heart of the Captain's Mile (Route 6A) on Cape Cod called Lighthouse Keeper's Pantry. Inspired by recipes of a lighthouse keeper on Sandy Neck Beach, the café has become a beacon for locals and a travel destination for tourists and foodies alike. In 2024, the duo acquired Cape Cod Saltworks to continue the tradition of making natural solar-evaporated sea salt from the ocean waters of Cape Cod and create sea salt recipe blends. Lighthouse Keeper's and Cape Cod Saltworks gourmet packaged foods are sold in hundreds of retail stores nationally.
