The Living Temple: What It Means That God Dwells in You (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798196487781)

What does it actually mean for your life that God dwells in you?

In The Living Temple, author and teacher Aaron Gordon takes readers on a transformative journey from the dusty courtyards of Jerusalem to the interior life of the contemporary believer. Beginning with the dramatic scene of Jesus cleansing the Temple in John 2, this twelve-week Bible study follows a theological thread that winds through the letters of Paul, the cries of the Psalms, and the prophetic visions of Revelation.

The claim at the heart of this study is staggering: The same God who filled the Tabernacle with His glory and caused the priests to tremble in Solomon's Temple now takes up residence in the bodies of ordinary believers. Through careful exposition and searching reflection, Gordon explores the implications of this truth for our physical lives, our thought lives, and our daily habits.

• A Deep Dive into Scripture: Trace the "Temple theme" from its origins in the Garden of Eden to its ultimate fulfillment in the New Creation.

• Theological Bridges: Discover how the stone Temple of Herod connects directly to the "Living Temple" of the believer's body as described in 1 Corinthians 6.

• Practical Transformation: Explore what it means to "present your body as a living sacrifice" and to "cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit."

• Restoration through Honesty: Utilize the vocabulary of Psalm 51 to navigate moments of failure and find the path back to restored joy.

• Group Study Tools: Designed for both individual and group use, each chapter includes six targeted reflection questions to move theology from the page into the heart.

The Living Temple is not a study designed to produce guilt, but one designed to produce clarity. It is an invitation to meet the God who "does not glance through the doorway and move on," but who enters, looks, and cares with a ferocity that ultimately feels like the most thorough mercy you have ever received.
